What is fly tipping?

  • Fly tipping is illegally dumping rubbish anywhere.

  • Being a criminal act the council take this action very seriously due to the effect it has upon the environment and surrounding residents.

  • This can be large scale dumping such as by illegal waste carriers

  • Even smaller scale dumping such as leaving an unwanted carrier bag of waste by bins.

Why not Fly tipping?
  • Tipping a mattress, electrical items or a bin bag full of rubbish in the street causes a local nuisance and makes an area look ugly and run down.

  • A source of bad smells that can be bad to your health.

  • Attracting flies.

  • Harbouring rats and mice

  • Causing a safety concern
