2.5. Rubbish and Recycling

The Council will collect rubbish from where you live every week.  


Rubbish must be sorted into two bins:

  • Rubbish for recycling – put in the clear recycling bag (e.g. food,garden waste, paper, glass, cans, plastic bottles).


  • Rubbish - everything else – put in the refuse sack (e.g. food, plastic bags, nappies).


Garden Waste
  • Put in a garden waste sack.


  • Collected every week. (e.g. leaves, flowers)



Food Waste Collection

It is available for houses and maisonettes with private gardens only. 

Sign up to the service

Residents who sign up to our service, will receive:

  • a kitchen caddy to collect the food waste
  • a roll of caddy liners to insert into your caddy (store your caddy liners in a dry place)
  • ​an external food storage bin to keep the full bags until your food waste is collected

Bulky waste items include fridges, freezers, bed frames, mattresses and wardrobes.

They can be hazardous to the environment when not disposed of properly.
